■Resources for Extensive Reading■

This section has been moved to "What’s More."

■About Logging In■

Q: I searched for e-Station online, but the school version didn’t appear.
A: The version of e-Station shown in online search results is for general users. If you're using the school version, log in with the specific URL we provided (the one given by your teacher).

Q: How can I save my username and password when logging in for the first time?
A: To save your username, check the box labeled "Remember Username" below the password field on the login screen.

Password-saving methods vary by browser:
・For Google Chrome: Click the three vertical dots in the upper right corner → Settings → Passwords
→ Enable “Offer to save passwords” and “Auto Sign-in”
・For Microsoft Edge: Click the three horizontal dots in the upper right corner → Settings → Passwords
→ Enable “Offer to save passwords” and “Sign in automatically”

・For iPhone: Go to Settings → Passwords & Accounts → Turn on “AutoFill Passwords” → On each login screen, after entering your password, select “Save Password.”
Saving methods may vary on other browsers and smartphones, so check accordingly.

※ If your device already has several usernames and passwords saved, one may be auto-filled automatically. In that case, please clear the input field and re-enter your credentials.
※ Since passwords appear as ●●● and can’t be seen, if copy-pasting from an email doesn’t work, paste the password into a memo app to remove any extra formatting or spaces. Then copy and paste it again from there.

Q: I forgot my username.
A: Please contact the administrator of your registered institution (your teacher).

Q: I forgot my password.
A: Please contact the administrator of your registered institution (your teacher).
If you have a usable email address registered, click “Forgot your username or password?” on the login screen and enter the required information. A password reset email will be sent to your registered address.

■How to Use My Page■

Q: What are the Assigned Audio/Books and My Library (Listening/Reading) sections on My Page?
A: Assigned Audio/Books are materials selected by your teacher. My Library displays the materials you’ve studied on your own, outside of assignments.

Q: What is the “Ranking” on the Classroom Page?
A: It shows the most popular materials studied within your group (classroom).

■How to Search and Read Books■

Q: Where can I search for books?
A: If a teacher assigns content, you can find it in the middle section of your My Page under “Assigned Books” or “Assigned Audio.” To search for other books, use the “Content” tab at the top. Click “Study” to access them.

Q: I want to read books from the same series. How can I find the next one?
A: In the search filters, select the series you want to read from the “Series” option. Then use the sorting feature to choose “Series Order,” and the books will be listed in order (e.g., by level or from 1 to 9). Up to 50 titles are displayed per page. You can search by level, genre, word count, EIKEN level, chapter, or keyword.

The icon next to “Level” gives you an explanation of levels and series. In the dropdown menu (②), you can sort by popularity, series, level, title, newest, or random.

Q: Is there a recommendation function that tells me what to read next?
A: Yes, at the bottom of each title’s training page, you’ll find recommended content. These include the next books in the same series or sequels.

■ About Character Count ■

Q: Where can I check the total number of characters I’ve read or listened to?
A: Your total character count appears just below the banner on your My Page. On each title’s page, you can see the cumulative word count specific to that title.

■Below the Banner on My Page

■ Inside Each Title Page (If you read the same book multiple times, the character count will be added cumulatively.)

Q: How are “characters read” counted in the Unlimited Japanese Extensive Reading courses?
A: Character count is recorded when you press the “Finish” button on the training screen. If you forget to press it and close the page, the characters won’t be counted. The following training types count characters for each course:

Q: If I listen to or read the same content more than once, will the character count still be recorded?
A: Yes. In the Unlimited Japanese Extensive Reading, if you finish reading a book and then reread the same title, the character count for the rereading will also be added. Note: to be considered “finished,” you must turn to the very last page of the book. If you press the “Finish” button partway through, only the characters up to that point will be counted.
However, even if you move back and forth within the content without pressing the “Finish” button, the character count will not be recorded. To confirm the character count, make sure to press the “Finish” button at least once.
If you reread a book that has already had its character count confirmed and completed, the number of books read will not increase. Only the character count will be added.

Q: When is the character count recorded?
A: It’s recorded when you press the “Finish” button at the end of the training.
・In the “Unlimited Extensive Reading Course,” characters are counted up to the point where you stop, even if you don’t finish the book.

If you want to stop partway through, please press the “Finish” button each time you stop.
If you repeatedly stop partway through, please make sure to press the “Finish” button each time.

Q: I can’t press the “Finish” button when opening a book on my smartphone.
A: Operation differs between PC and smartphone.
On smartphones, the reading screen opens in a separate window. To press the “Finish” button, use the window switch button to return to the original page.
■How to operate on a smartphone
Open the reading page and press on the book cover. The book content will open in a separate window. When you finish reading, use the "Switch Window" button to return to the original page. Then, press the "Exit" button.
※The audio playback button appears toward the bottom of the original page. To play the audio, first press the play button on the reading page, then open the window showing the book's content.
※You can refer to the “e-Station User Manual,” available for download from the top of the Help page.

Q: How can I read a book in landscape mode on a smartphone?
■ How to do it on an iPhone
On the home screen, swipe up from the bottom to display the settings screen as shown in ②. Tap the red-circled area in the image below and turn off the portrait orientation lock. When you rotate your smartphone horizontally on the e-Station reading page, the display switches to landscape mode.
■How to hide the browser toolbar
Tap the part of the toolbar where “ああ” appears. Tap “Hide Toolbar.” *Text enlargement is not supported. To enlarge text, please use the pinch gesture (spreading or pinching two fingers on the screen).
Q: I thought I finished reading, but the character count isn’t showing or is incorrect.
A: Be sure to press the "Finish" button after completing the book. If you don’t press the "Finish" button, the character count won’t be recorded. If you press the Finish button partway through, only the character count up to that page will be recorded.
If you read the same title more than once, the character count will be accumulated for each reading.
If you are using e-Station on a PC or tablet, the page may not reach the end unless the screen is set to 100%. This can cause discrepancies in the character count.
Please check your display settings, and if there is still a discrepancy, inform your teacher of the book title and ask them to contact us.

■Resetting Zoom Level for Screen Display

The method varies depending on the browser you are using.
・For Google Chrome: Click the three vertical dots in the top right → Zoom → Press “+” or “–” to set it to “100%”
・For Microsoft Edge: Click the three horizontal dots in the top right → Zoom → Press “+” or “–” to set it to “100%”

※On a PC, you can also adjust the zoom by holding down the Ctrl key and scrolling the mouse wheel.
※On some Android devices, adjusting the browser zoom level may be disabled by default.

If you're using the Chrome browser, you can enable zoom by following the steps below:
   1. Tap the three dots in the top right corner of the Google Chrome browser (see above).
   2. Go to Menu → Settings → Accessibility → Turn on “Force enable zoom.”

Also, if you open e-Station through apps like LINE, it will use the app’s built-in browser, which may cause the character count to not work properly. To avoid this, open e-Station in Chrome.

■About Learning Status■

Q: The “In Progress” mark doesn’t appear in the learning status on My Page.
A: The display updates at set intervals, so the “In Progress” mark may not appear right after you start a session. Check again after at least 15 minutes. The mark will not appear unless you have done Reading or Listen & Read training.

Q: Why doesn’t “In Progress” change to “Completed”?
A: To change the learning status to “Completed,” you must finish all training. On the training screen, make sure all items have checkmarks.
Depending on your learning plan, you may not need to complete all training. Follow your teacher’s instructions for which training is required.

Q: I completed all tasks, but the “Completed” mark doesn’t appear.
A: First, male sure all items in the training menu have checkmarks. Even if they do, the system updates at set intervals, so the mark may not appear right after you finish. Please check again after at least 15 minutes.

■About Quizzes and Summarizing■

Q: Can I take the quiz as many times as I want?
A: Yes, you can try as many times as you like. Each result will be sent to your teacher.

Q: How can I reset the training content?
A: You can only reset titles that are not assigned reading. In My Library, scroll to the bottom of the content page and click “Unsubscribe from this content” to remove it from your list. The reading history will still be visible to your teacher.

Q: I read a book, but it doesn’t appear on the teacher’s side / the quiz or summary doesn’t seem to show up.
A: After finishing each training, be sure to press the “Finish” button or the “Submit answers and finish” button that appears in a popup at the end. The screen your teacher uses to check is different for assigned books, so if you read anything other than an assigned book, let your teacher know.

Q: I want to review a summary I wrote previously.
A: You can’t view past summaries on the screen. If you want to compare or keep them, save them elsewhere. Simply opening the summary screen for a second or later attempt will reset the teacher’s view of your previous summary.

■How to Play Audio■

Q: How can I listen to audio while reading a book on a smartphone?
A: To listen to audio while reading on a smartphone or tablet, open the content display screen and the audio playback screen separately. First, press the audio playback button at the bottom of the Reading or Listen & Read screen. Then, open the book in a separate window. Automatic page-turning is not available, so turn the pages manually in sync with the audio.
At the end, make sure to return to the original window and press the "Finish" button. If you do not press the Finish button, the character count will not be recorded. If you do not press the Finish button, the word count will not be recorded.

Q: Can I adjust the playback speed of the audio?
A: Yes, you can adjust the playback speed between 0.50 and 2.0 at the bottom of each title.

■Notifications and Messaging Function■

Q: Can I ask my teacher questions directly from the screen?
A: Yes. You can send a message to your teacher from the “Messages” tab in the middle-right section of My Page. You can also check messages from your teacher there.

Q: Where can I check announcements from my teacher?
A: Announcements from your teacher to the entire group are available by clicking on your assigned group under “Class Page” in the middle left section. You can view the most popular content in each class there.

☆When You Run Into Problems☆

Q: My read character count isn't being recorded properly.
*To learn how to check your character count, please see this PDF.

■Case 1: You left the screen open for a long time without pressing the Finish button after completing the book
→ e-Station automatically logs you out after 1 hour of inactivity. If you leave the screen open for a long time without pressing the "Finish" button, you may be automatically logged out, and pressing the button afterward will not correctly record your character count. If you're logged out, you will usually be returned to the login screen. Please log in again, reopen the page you were reading last, and press the "Finish" button.

■Case 2: No internet connection or session was disconnected
→ If your device isn’t connected to the internet when you press the "Finish" button, the character count won’t be recorded. The same applies if your connection is interrupted and the session ends. Make sure you're properly connected to the internet.

■Case 3: Browser zoom isn’t set to 100%
→ If your browser’s zoom isn’t set to 100%, you might not reach the final page, and the character count may not be recorded. Before pressing the "Finish" button, check that your display is set to 100%.
For zoom setting instructions, please see here.

■Case 4: You navigated to another lesson or page without pressing the Finish button
→ If you move to another page without pressing the "Finish" button, the character count will not be recorded. Please make sure to press the "Finish" button before navigating away.

■Case 5: You flipped via the content without pressing the Finish button
→ If you flip via the pages before starting to read to see what the book is about, the last page you reach will be registered as the reading endpoint by the system. For example, if you only actually read up to page 10, but flipped all the way to the last page before beginning, the system will count the entire book as characters read once you press the "Finish" button. Please be careful.

Reference: How Character Counts Are Calculated At e-Station, character counts are calculated using the book’s total character count and the number of actual pages (excluding cover and copyright pages).
Example: If a book has 80 words over 20 pages, and you read up to page 10:
  80 words ÷ 20 pages ×10 pages = 40 words

Q: I pressed the "Finish” button, but the word count is still not reflected, and none of the previous cases apply.
■Check ①
Make sure you are using the latest version of Google Chrome.
Browsers are constantly being updated, and sometimes updates can interfere with the character count function. e-Station recommends using Chrome. If you're using another browser, please try using Chrome to see if the character count is registered correctly.

■Check ②
Try using a different device.
For example, if the character count didn’t register on your smartphone, try the same action on a PC.
If that works, the issue may be with the content. Please report it using the content issue form.

■Check ③
Try switching the training method.
“Characters Read” is only counted when using the “Reading” or “Listening While Reading” training.
If character count doesn’t register with one, try the other. If only one method works, it may be a content issue — please report it using the content issue form.

Q: The character count included pages I only opened to preview but didn’t actually read.
→ Once you navigate via the pages, the system will count up to the furthest page reached when the "Finish" button is pressed. Please be cautious as previewing pages before reading can cause unintended character count results.

Q: I read the same book again, but the total number of books read did not increase.
→ The same book will only be counted as one book regardless of how many times it is read. However, the number of characters read will increase with each reading. Even if you confirm word count partway via the book, it will still be counted as one book.

Q: Why doesn’t my “In Progress” status change to “Completed” on My Page?
→ To update the status to “Completed,” all training steps must be finished. Make sure all checkboxes on the training page are checked. Depending on your learning plan, not all steps may be required. Please follow your teacher’s instructions.

Q: How can I organize My Library (Reading / Listening) on My Page?
→ Any content you start is automatically added to My Library. If the list gets too long, go to the content’s training list page and click “Unsubscribe from this content” at the bottom to remove it.

Even if you unsubscribe from content, your character and book counts will remain recorded.
